To release her anger, she’s taken up martial arts and axe-throwing, both of which are better than the microdosing drug habit that left her occasionally disassociated with reality – something the audience now gets a dose of in the form of illustrated musical asides explaining the episode’s dominant legal term or figure. It’s a callback of sorts to show creators Robert and Michelle King’s late-great show, “BrainDead,” which used singer-songwriter Jonathan Coulton’s “Previously on” recaps to magnificently catchy effect.
All around Diane, the world is on edge, even at Reddick, Boseman, Lockhart and Associates. Adrian (Delroy Lindo) is vowing to remove politics from the firm’s dealings, while Liz (Audra McDonald, who’s even more of a standout this season) is processing how to handle allegations her family’s legacy is less than idyllic.
